A High School Linguistics Club
Computational linguistics is an interdisciplinary field concerned with the computational modelling of natural language, as well as the study of appropriate computational approaches to linguistic questions. In Challenges With Computational Linguistics, students have the chance to solve complex computational linguistics puzzles, interpret computational linguistics algorithms and research and discuss the areas of computational linguistics that interest them. Throughout the year, the club’s members work to learn how natural language processing algorithms are constructed, select a target problem for a program to solve, and attempt to construct their own model.
Research + Discussion
Topics include current challenges in the field of linguistics, recently constructed linguistics algorithms, how linguistics algorithms are constructed, and more.
Constructing An Algorithm
Throughout the year, the club will work to learn how linguistics algorithms are constructed, select a target problem for the algorithm to solve, and attempt to construct the algorithm.
Members discuss possible solutions to challenging linguistics problems. The puzzles will vary from translations involving obscure languages to interpreting a section of a computational linguistics algorithm.
